Top Attractions in Perth

During your stay at Mercure Perth make sure you visit these top attractions

Kinnoull Hill

Get away from it all and escape to a tranquil place surrounded by nature, dust off those walking boots and head over to Kinnoull Hill.  It’s an ideal place for woodland walks stretching roughly 4 kilometres with spectacular views overlooking the River Tay and is suitable for the whole family.  Kinnoull Hill is 222 metres high and there are some magnificent views at the top including Dundee and Fife and as far as the foothills of the Grampians, Ben Lawyers and Schiehallion which is well worth the uphill hike.  Mercure Perth is a ten minute drive from Kinnoull Hill Woodland Park (2.5 miles).

Scone Palace

Scone Palace is one of Perth’s most popular visitor attractions and is highly recommended attraction by our General Manager.  Visitors are encouraged to see the palace at their own pace where there are guides available to in each room to answer any questions you have about the palace.  Visit the crowning place of the Scottish Kings where Macbeth and Robert the Bruce were once crowned and the palace grounds including the open gardens.  Mercure Perth is approximately a 10 minute drive from Scone Palace (2.6 miles).

Black Watch Museum

The Black Watch Castle and Museum tells the story of Scotland’s elite military regiment which dates back to almost three centuries.  The best way to learn all about the Highland Regiment is to take a guided tour of the museum and castle.  Please check their website for the opening times, the museum is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Perth Museum and Art Gallery

Take a trip down memory lane and visit Perth Museum and Art Gallery.  From portraits, photographs to historical artefacts, there’s a fascinating collection which changes regularly.  Learn about the local and natural history or admire the ever changing art exhibition which has something for everyone.  Please check their website for the opening time, the museum is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Huntingtower Castle

Built in the 15th and 16th centuries, the castle is in impeccable condition with 2 complete towers.  There is an original painted ceiling in the hall of the eastern tower dating from about 1540.  Appreciate the castle’s odd layout, the two tower houses have been placed close together and joined in the 17th century.  The castle is a 10 minute drive from the hotel and parking is available at the attraction.

St Johnstone Football Club

Established in 1884, the club are now one of Scotland's top football sides. Achievements include finishing five seasons in a row in the top six, four successive Europa League qualifying campaigns between 2012-15 and the proud winners of the 2014 William Hill Scottish Cup.
